چکیده

The effective mass meff of the nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics with spin 1/2 is investigated. Let meff/m = 1 + a1(Λ/m)e + a2(Λ/m)e +O(e6), where m denotes the bare mass. a1(Λ/m) ∼ log(Λ/m) as Λ → ∞ is well known. Also a2(Λ/m) ∼ √ Λ/m is established for a spinless case. It is shown that a2(Λ/m) ∼ (Λ/m) in the case including spin 1/2.

Dedicated to Irene Z. CLASSICAL TUNNELING AS THE RESULT OF RETARDATION IN CLASSICAL ELECTRODYNAMICS: NONRELATIVISTIC CASE

The problem of radiation reaction in classical electrodynamics is still discussed in the literature (for ex. see [1]). This problem can be formulated in the following way: it is known that classical charged body moving with acceleration must radiate. Thus there is back reaction of outgoing electromagnetic waves. But what quantity feels this back reaction pure mechanical mass of a charged body o...

We discuss recent progress in various problems related to bound-state quantum electrodynamics: the bound-electron g factor, two-loop self-energy corrections and the laser-dressed Lamb shift. The progress relies on various advances in the bound-state formalism, including ideas inspired by effective field theories such as Nonrelativistic Quantum Electrodynamics. Radiative corrections in dynamical...

Physical state for non-relativistic quantum electrodynamics

A physical subspace and physical Hilbert space associated with asymptotic fields of nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics are constructed through the Gupta-Bleuler procedure. Asymptotic completeness is shown and a physical Hamiltonian is defined on the physical Hilbert space.

Reparameterization invariance of NRQED self-energy corrections and improved theory for excited D states in hydrogenlike systems

Canonically, the quantum electrodynamic radiative corrections in bound systems have been evaluated in photon energy regularization, i.e. using a noncovariant overlapping parameter that separates the high-energy relativistic scales of the virtual quanta from the nonrelativistic domain. Here, we calculate the higher-order corrections to the one-photon self-energy calculation with three different ...

Effective field theories for QED bound states: extending Nonrelativistic QED to study retardation effects

Nonrelativistic QED bound states are difficult to study because of the presence of at least three widely different scales: the masses, three-momenta (pi) and kinetic energies (Ki) of the constituents. Nonrelativistic QED (NRQED), an effective field theory developed by Caswell and Lepage, simplifies greatly bound state calculations by eliminating the masses as dynamical scales. As we demonstrate...
